Our Annual Dinner and Auction Gala was a huge success! On November 7th over 500 residents, family members, staff, business and community leaders gathered at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center to support TLRC and our Appeal for Wheels Campaign. Attendees were greeted at the spectacular event with over 200 silent auction items, photographers, a caricature artist, and two living statues during the pre-function activities. At 6:45 two fanfaring trumpeters signaled the end of the silent auction and the ballroom doors opened for dinner! Renowned Art in Action artist Brian Olsen provided entertainment during dinner. With a blank 6 foot tall 4 foot wide black canvas, Brian used his hands and multiple paint brushes in each hand to create a masterpiece. The four paintings of Frank Sinatra, Humphrey Bogart, Bono (from the band U2), and John Lennon were auctioned off during the live auction. There was such excitement over the paintings that by the time John Lennon was up for bid… we sold three! (Brian agreed to create two additional paintings). Emcee and Auctioneer Ken Carson, the voice of the Seahawks and Sounders, facilitated the evening. We auctioned off trips, cruises, Seahawk tickets, catered dinners, and much more. Many stayed for the After Party and danced to the music of Bobby Medina and the Red Hot Band. All had a great time! We are grateful for the widespread support that helped us bring in over $100,000 the night of the event. The proceeds will purchase new vehicles for resident transportation to and from medical appointments. Thank you! On behalf of our Board of Trustees, residents, and staff, thank you for your generosity. P.S. Mark your calendar as you won’t want to miss next year’s event on November 6, 2010.
