The Foundation

Make A Lasting Difference

Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community (TLRC) relies on the generous donations of residents, family members, staff, and the community to provide quality care for residents. Donations to TLRC, a non-profit organization, qualify for charitable tax deductions.

Capital Projects:

Capital projects include buildings, grounds and vehicles.

We are currently raising money for our Dining Rooms. Your help will allow us to remodel our Health Center Dining Room, Apartment Deli, and Assisted Living Dining Area. Learn more here.

Emerson Wellness & Clark Aquatic Center

The Emerson Wellness & Clark Aquatic Center includes an exercise therapy pool, a spa therapy pool, and an exercise room. All residents have access to the Wellness Center with no fees.

Donations support exercise classes, equipment purchases, and maintenance. Gifts of $500 or more for the Wellness Center will be recognized with a donor tile in the Wellness Center.

Chaplains

Chaplains:

  • Are on site seven days a week
  • Perform daily non-denominational devotional services
  • Hold a Full Sunday service
  • Comfort residents and families through difficult times
  • Visit Residents in the Hospital at all hours of the day and night
  • Counsel staff members

The Chaplaincy Endowment will ensure that the Chaplaincy Program remains a lasting component at TLRC.

An endowment is a permanent fund that earns annual interest income through investments. The endowment is a permanent and stable source of income and is used solely for the Chaplaincy Program.

Employee Scholarships

The employee scholarship fund allows employees to apply for scholarships to further their education. In return they apply their skills to enhance the lives of TLRC residents.

Resident Activities

Activities Include:

  • Daily Activities
  • Gardening
  • Pet Therapy
  • Beauty Salon
  • Special Parties and More
Residents also enjoy taking day trips to local destinations: Flowers in bloom, visiting Point Defiance Park, or enjoying the Puyallup Fair.

Resident Care

As residents live longer and costs of medical care continue to increase, there is a growing problem of seniors outliving their finances.

Over half of our Health Center residents have outlived their financial means and rely on Medicaid for their daily needs. To be Medicaid eligible one’s total assets must be less than $2,000!

With Washington State’s recent cuts in Medicaid Reimbursement, our deficit in Medicaid reimbursement will be nearly one million dollars this year.

Annual Gala

Each year, TLRC holds a Dinner and Auction Gala to raise money for worthwhile projects benefitting residents. This memorable evening includes live and silent auction, dinner, and entertainment.
