The Foundation
Make A Lasting Difference
Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community (TLRC) relies on the generous donations of residents, family members, staff, and the community to provide quality care for residents. Donations to Tacoma Lutheran, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, qualify for charitable contribution tax deductions.
You have several opportunities to give:
Capital Projects
Capital projects are large projects that include buildings, grounds and vehicles. For example, thanks to a generous bequest from longtime resident Mabel Anderson, TLRC purchased a new van that transports residents on day trips and outings.
Chaplaincy Endowment
TLRC residents enjoy the benefits of having a chaplain available seven days a week. Chaplains perform daily non-denominational devotional services, as well as a full Sunday service. Chaplains are also available to comfort residents and families through difficult times.
The Chaplaincy Endowment will ensure that the chaplaincy program remains a lasting piece at Tacoma Lutheran. An endowment is a permanent fund that earns annual interest income through investments. The endowment is a permanent and stable source of income and is used solely for the chaplaincy program.
Employee Scholarships
Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community has outstanding staff members who understand and embrace the mission of serving our seniors. The employee scholarship fund allows employees to apply for scholarships to further their education and, in return, apply their new skills to enhance the lives of TLRC residents.
Resident Activities
TLRC is a busy place. Residents have the opportunity to take part in activities geared to all different abilities and interests. This includes daily activities, gardening, pet therapy, a beauty salon, special parties and more.
Residents also enjoy taking day trips to local destinations. Whether it’s viewing the flowers in bloom, visiting Point Defiance Park, or enjoying the Puyallup Fair, these day trips bring enjoyment and vitality to residents.
Resident Care
As residents live longer and costs of medical care continue to increase, there is a growing challenge of seniors outliving their finances. Due to no fault of their own, over half of our Care Center and Assisted Living residents have outlived their financial means and rely on Tacoma Lutheran and public assistance for daily housing and healthcare.
Wellness Center / Therapy Pool
Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community is undergoing a $250,000 campaign to raise money for two new therapy pools. These two pools - an exercise therapy pool plus a spa therapy pool - will allow residents to more easily perform exercises by putting less stress on their body, accelerate the healing process, and bring comfort to those suffering from chronic conditions.
Gifts of $500 or more to the Wellness Center/Therapy Pool Campaign will be recognized with a tile in the new Wellness Center honoring their family or loved one.
